Robustness

The Statisticis group at ETH Zurich has been one of the primary research locations for the early fundamental research on robust theory and methods, starting with Peter Huber and then Frank Hampel and their doctoral students and collaborators.
One result has been the book by

Hampel, Rousseeuw, Ronchetti and Stahel (1986)
Robust Statistics - The Approach Based on Influence Functions;
  Wiley Series in Probability and Mathematical Statistics.
