Jinghao Cao 曹景皓

I am currently in the third year of my PhD studies in Applied Mathematics at ETH Zurich focusing on mathematical modelling and numerical solutions to photonic and phononic wave propagation in metamaterials. My supervisor is Prof. Dr. Habib Ammari (https://people.math.ethz.ch/~hammari/). My second supervisor is Prof. Dr. Alessio Figalli.

Growing up in Shanghai (China), my educational path led me to Frankfurt (Germany), where I completed my high school diploma (Abitur). Subsequently, I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's degree with distinction from ETH Zurich (Switzerland) with a year abroad at Imperial College London (UK).

In the past, I was supported by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung) and Swiss European Mobility Programme (SEMP). Currently my research is partially funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF).

In my function as Group Organiser (head assistant) of the Seminar for Applied Mathematics (SAM) at D-MATH since April 2023, I manage a group of 30 doctoral students and postdocs, being responsible for coordinating teaching duties, reviewing PhD/PostDoc applications and hiring student assistants for lectures. I am the point of contact for the department and other groups at D-MATH.

I am fluent in Chinese, English and German.
